Corner Management Strategy
The number one reason players lose Block Blast is getting trapped by a 3x3 block with nowhere to place it. Our Balanced mode solves this with Corner Management. The algorithm assigns a heavy penalty to any move that fills the four corner 2x2 zones unless it also clears a line.
In practice, this means the solver will often sacrifice 10 points now to keep a corner open, because keeping that space increases your future move options by over 300 percent. When you play manually, follow this rule: never place a 1x1 or L-shape in a corner unless you are clearing that row or column in the same turn. This simple habit will take you from 5,000 points to 10,000 points consistently.
The solver visualizes this by prioritizing placements in the central 4x4 area first. If you watch the step-by-step animation, you will see Piece 1 almost always goes to the middle, not the edge. That is intentional. It preserves the corners for the large blocks that appear every 4 to 5 turns.
L-Piece Clearing Strategy
L-shaped pieces are the most valuable in Block Blast because they can clear two lines at once. The optimal geometry is placing the L at the intersection of a row that is 7/8 full and a column that is 7/8 full.
Our High Score mode weights this pattern 3x higher than normal clears. Instead of clearing one line for 10 points, the solver looks for the L-placement that clears a row and a column simultaneously for 30 points plus a combo bonus. The math is simple: one double clear equals three single clears in score, but uses the same piece.
To do this manually, scan your board for any "almost full" lines. If you see a row with 7 blocks and a column with 7 blocks crossing, save your L-piece for that exact spot. Do not waste it on a single line clear. The solver will show you this move with a gold highlight and label it "Combo" in the output.
Combo Multipliers vs Survival
This is the core decision our three modes make differently. Combo Multipliers reward risk. Survival rewards safety.
Balanced mode (default) uses a 50/50 weight. It will take a double clear if it leaves you with at least 20 empty cells. If the double clear would leave you with less than 15 empty cells, it chooses a safer single clear instead. This is why Balanced mode averages the highest scores over 100 games.
High Score mode ignores future space. It always takes the highest immediate points, even if it creates isolated holes. Use this when you are chasing a personal best and do not mind losing the next game.
Survival mode does the opposite. It applies a 5-point penalty for every isolated empty cell you create. It will happily skip a 20-point clear to keep the board flat. Use Survival when you are on a long streak and want to avoid the sudden death that comes from a messy board.
The solver calculates all three strategies in under 200ms and shows you the score gain for each. Most Play Store apps cannot do this because they run on slow servers. Ours runs in your browser with a Web Worker, so your board never leaves your phone.
How Block Blast Scoring Really Works
Score comes from lines cleared × 10 plus combo bonus. The secret is flat board strategy: keep rows even to enable multi-line clears. Avoid isolated holes. Learn how to get high score in block blast.
Why This Beats App Store Solvers
- No forced ads: Apps show a 30 second video after every loss. We show zero.
- Instant: 1ms solve time vs 3-5 seconds on apps that upload your screenshot to a server.
- Private: All processing happens in your browser. We never see your board.
